Former Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea in talks with Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich are locked in talks with former Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea in the ongoing transfer window, according to Sport1 (h/t The Sun).
The Bundesliga giants are interested in acquiring the services of the Spain international this summer to add cover in between the sticks. As things stand, the German outfit want to sign him on a free transfer, but the 32-year-old’s wage demands are a stumbling block.
Manuel Neuer has been on the sidelines for some time now. Last season, the 37-year-old picked up an injury and was replaced by Yann Sommer in January. However, the Swiss national has joined Inter Milan this summer.

As a result, the Bavarians are now looking for a backup goalkeeper. To that end, De Gea is on their radar. But the shot-stopper is being eyed by clubs in Saudi Arabia as well.
Bayern have Sven Ulreich as the only established goalkeeper available at the moment. Therefore, it is understandable that the Bundesliga giants want to bolster their ranks with the former Atletico Madrid star.
United signed De Gea from Los Rojiblancos in the summer of 2011. Subsequently, the shot-stopper was a key player for the Red Devils for over a decade. But despite winning the Premier League Golden Glove in the previous campaign, he left a lot to be desired under Erik ten Hag.

The Spaniard’s contract ran out at the end of June and the Old Trafford side replaced him with Andre Onana. The Cameroonian made an impressive start to his career in Manchester as we beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 on 14 August.
