Bruno Fernandes acknowledges Manchester United imperfection in Wolves win
Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has acknowledged that the Red Devils were not perfect in the win over Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves).
The West Midlands-based club visited Old Trafford on 14 August in the Premier League. Gary O’Neil, who was appointed the Molineux Stadium side’s manager a few days ago after the departure of Julen Lopetegui, set up his team admirably.
Wolves posed a threat to United on the counter and created a number of decent opportunities in the match. However, in the end, it was the Red Devils who came away with the three points.
Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Manchester Evening News), Fernandes felt that the Old Trafford side were lacking in certain aspects of the game. But the Portugal international is glad that we got the victory.
“On the ball, we were a little bit rushed at times. We could have had a better timing on the counter because we are really dangerous on doing that. It wasn’t the perfect game, but we won.”
The 28-year-old is one of United’s talisman. Recently, Harry Maguire was stripped of the captaincy after not being able to make a place for himself in Erik ten Hag’s plans. Now, the former Sporting CP star officially dons the armband.
Unfortunately, Fernandes did not lead by example in the fixture against Wolves. The playmaker did not have a big enough impact or influence on the game.
We barely got over the line and got the three points. It was not an encouraging display from the Red Devils. The attack spurned a number of chances. Thankfully, Raphael Varane’s goal made the difference.
Fernandes played the full match. The first half saw us create a few opportunities, but the second half was bland from the Red Devils’ attacking point of view.

Having gotten off to a poor start in the 2022/23 term, the Old Trafford side have managed to get a result despite a poor showing this time around. Hopefully, the Portuguese and the new signings in the team will soon find their feet and get the best out of each other.
