Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong wants to finish his career at the Catalan outfit amidst considerable interest from Manchester United in the last few months.

Since the arrival of Erik ten Hag in the Red Devils’ dugout, the Holland international has been linked with a switch to the club. Last summer, the Old Trafford side even had a fee agreed with the Blaugrana to acquire the services of the midfielder. But the deal failed to materialise.

United have continued to monitor De Jong. However, speaking to El Periodico (h/t Manchester Evening News), the midfielder expressed his desire to stay at the Spanish giants for years to come.

“Barça is the club of my life. I want to spend my whole life here, I never wanted to leave despite the financial situation of the club last summer. I’ve always been a Barça fan since I was a kid. This is the club of my dreams.”

As things stand, the Red Devils have already strengthened their engine room with the addition of Mason Mount from Chelsea this summer. However, the Old Trafford side are open to singing another player to bolster the middle of the park.

United have parted ways with Fred recently. The Brazil international has joined Fenerbahce. Donny van de Beek is also being linked with a move away from the Manchester-based club.

Scott McTominay is also attracting interest from other clubs this summer. Therefore, if there are more departures from our midfield, we will be left with a lack of depth.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are the other established players in our ranks. They were the gaffer’s go-to in the previous campaign. Unfortunately, in their absence, the team struggled for positive results.

De Jong developed under the Dutch manager at Ajax Amsterdam before moving on to bigger and better things at Barcelona. The midfielder is one of the best at what he does currently.

However, it looks like the Holland international has no intention of leaving Spain anytime soon. But will his stance change in the coming future? Only time will tell.
