Manchester United talks with Real Sociedad for Donny van de Beek stalled
Real Sociedad are considering walking away from a deal for Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek this summer, according to 90min (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils have been in talks with the La Liga outfit for some time now regarding the sale of the midfielder in the ongoing transfer window. As things stand, the Holland national looks set to leave the club in the coming weeks.
However, the Old Trafford side have not been able to reach a consensus with the Reale Arena side. The San Sebastian-based club wanted to take him on a temporary move initially with an option to buy. But discussions have stalled.
Although, Van de Beek is attracting interest from elsewhere as well. Ajax Amsterdam, AC Milan and AS Roma are looking to acquire the midfielder’s services as well.
United signed the Holland national in the summer of 2020. In the Netherlands, he was one of the most promising prospects back then but has since regressed.
Van de Beek has failed to live up to the expectations at the Old Trafford side. The midfielder’s injury issues have not helped him either. Even the arrival of former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has been unable to spur on the Holland national.
At United, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen’s arrival last summer saw them cement their place in the starting lineup. The Brazilian and Danish nationals were impressive for the Red Devils as a duo.
Now, we have also added Mason Mount to our ranks this summer. The former Chelsea midfielder was one of the Blues’ best players in recent seasons.

Therefore, competition for a place in the starting lineup has arguably only increased. Thus, if not La Real, it would be wise for Van de Beek to consider a move elsewhere in the coming weeks.
