Harry Maguire told to leave Manchester United by Erik ten Hag
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has told Harry Maguire to leave the club this summer if he does not have the determination to fight for his place.
The England international has been linked with a move away from the Red Devils in the ongoing transfer window. To that end, West Ham United have had a £30 million offer accepted from the Old Trafford side for the defender.
However, the centre-back is still available for selection ahead of Man United’s game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on 14 August. Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag expressed his trust in the 30-year-old but advised the former Leicester City star to leave if he was not up to the fight.

“For Harry, he has to fight for his place. He has the ability to be a top-class centre-back, he is the best for England so why shouldn’t he be the best for us? But he has to prove it. When he is not confident enough to go with that fight then he has to go, he has to make the decision. But I am happy with him.”
In the summer of 2019, the Red Devils signed Maguire from the Foxes. Initially, the defender was a key player for the Old Trafford side and was handed the captain’s armband a few months into his stint at the club.
However, since Erik ten Hag’s arrival, the English national has seen his game time dwindle. Subsequently, the gaffer has also stripped the centre-back of the armband.
In the previous campaign, Maguire found himself on the bench most often. The defender started in just eight league games for us in the previous campaign.

Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane were the Dutch manager’s go-to duo at the back last season. The two World Cup winners have formed a solid partnership at United.
Victor Lindelof was also ahead of Maguire in the pecking order. The Sweden international was chosen ahead of the former Leicester star to cover a position in the backline.
