Fenerbahce submit €15 million offer for Manchester United midfielder Fred
Manchester United have been offered €15 million for the services of Fred in the ongoing transfer window from Fenerbahce, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Turkish giants have put on an official bid to get a hold of the Brazil international’s signature this summer. In terms of the deal, the aforementioned price includes add-ons as well.
As things stand, the two clubs are in negotiations to come to a consensus regarding the midfielder. The Super Lig outfit want to add the 30-year-old to their ranks soon.
United signed Fred in the summer of 2018 from Shakhtar Donetsk. Subsequently, the midfielder was mostly a backup player in his first year at the Old Trafford side.
However, the Brazilian has been a key player for the Red Devils over the last few years. His partnership with Scott McTominay was prominent at the club before the arrival of Erik ten Hag from Ajax Amsterdam.
In the previous campaign, Fred saw his influence in the team dwindle. While the midfielder featured in a majority of the games, he was seemingly not the first name on the team sheet for the Dutch manager.
The Brazilian made 56 appearances in all competitions for United in the previous campaign, scoring six goals and providing six assists. However, he was given the opportunity to start in just 12 matches in the Premier League by Ten Hag.
With the arrival of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro last summer, the gaffer had two great talents at his disposal for the engine room. The Danish national and the former Real Madrid star were the go-to players for the Dutch manager last season.
Now, we have signed Mason Mount from Chelsea in the ongoing transfer window. The 24-year-old is arguably a candidate to start in the middle of the park in the 2023/24 term.

Therefore, the Red Devils have added quality to their midfield. Fred has just one year left on his current contract at the Old Trafford side (transfermarkt). Thus, it makes sense for the club to cash in on him in the coming weeks.
