Rasmus Hojlund expected to make Manchester United debut against Arsenal
Manchester United star Rasmus Hojlund is expected to make his debut for the Old Trafford side against Arsenal, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required).
The Denmark international is anticipated to miss the first few weeks of the 2023/24 term due to a minor back injury. As a result, the striker needs some time to rehabilitate before returning to action.
Therefore, the 20-year-old will potentially not feature against Wolverhampton Wanderers in our opening game of the season. The former Atalanta star is also a doubt for the Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest games.
However, on 3 September, Hojlund could make his much-anticipated debut for United. We will travel to the Emirates Stadium side to take on Mikel Arteta’s team. The Gunners have progressed immensely over the last year and have strengthened immensely this summer.
The Old Trafford side signed the Danish national for €75 million plus €10 million in add-ons recently from La Dea. Last summer, the Bergamo-based club acquired the youngster’s services from Sturm Graz.
Hojlund is one of the biggest prospects in football. However, the striker’s numbers in the Serie A last season were not as encouraging. However, the youngster has showcased his goalscoring prowess for his national side.
At United, the number nine position lacks quality and depth. Anthony Martial was the only natural striker at Erik ten Hag’s disposal before the arrival of Hojlund. However, the French national has had multiple fitness issues over the last year.
During pre-season, the Dutch manager has experimented with playing Jadon Sancho up front. In the previous campaign, Marcus Rashford also played as our focal point on several occasions to good effect.
