Manchester United favourites to sign Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard
Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard is on the radar of Manchester United, who are the favourites to sign him, according to Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg on Twitter.
The France international can ‘imagine’ himself making his way to the Old Trafford side in the ongoing transfer window. Erik ten Hag is keen on getting a hold of the full-back’s signature.
As things stand, the Red Devils are in concrete discussions with the Bavarians regarding acquiring the services of the 27-year-old. Amidst the positive talks, the Bundesliga giants have put a price tag close to €30 million on his head.
However, while Pavard wants to leave Bayern this summer, Thomas Tuchel is pushing to keep a hold of him. The former Chelsea manager does not want to lose the defender. Noussair Mazraoui and Josip Stanisic are the other two options for the Allianz Arena side at the right-hand side of the defence.
Over the years, the French national has been pivotal to the Bavarians’ success, playing as a right-back as well in central defence. He has won multiple league titles and a Champions League trophy.
At United, Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are the two options at Ten Hag’s disposal. In the previous campaign, the Portuguese and English nationals both had their opportunities in the team and impressed.
At centre-back, Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez were the gaffer’s preferred duo last season. Victor Lindelof was also decent when called upon last season.

However, the Old Trafford side have agreed a fee in principle to sell Harry Maguire. West Ham United look set to sign the England international from the Manchester-based club in the coming weeks.
Therefore, we will arguably need to add reinforcements in case of the former Leicester City star’s departure. Whether Pavard will be the one to bolster our backline remains to be seen.
