Brighton & Hove Albion agree fee with Ajax Amsterdam for Manchester United target Mohammed Kudus
Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion have agreed a £34.5 million fee with Ajax Amsterdam for Manchester United target Mohammed Kudus, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t Manchester Evening News].
The Seagulls are set to sign the Ghana international from the Eredivisie outfit in the ongoing transfer window. To that end, the East Sussex-based club have already agreed personal terms with the attacker.
This summer, the Red Devils have had the 23-year-old on their radar. However, interest from the Old Trafford side in him has waned after the signing of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.
Kudus joined Ajax in the summer of 2020 when Erik ten Hag was still in charge. Under the Dutch manager, the youngster was mostly a backup option and played a bit-part role in the team.
However, with the gaffer moving to Manchester and Antony following him, the Ghanaian became the Eredivisie outfit’s talisman last season. The attacker shone for the Amsterdam-based club.
Kudus put in some impressive displays for both club and country. The Ghanaian made 42 appearances in all competitions for De Godenzonen in the previous campaign, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists.
At United, Rasmus Hojlund is a welcome arrival. The Danish national is an out-and-out striker, something that we evidently needed this summer. Anthony Martial has been injury prone over the last year.
Kudus has played on the right wing and the number nine position. However, he is arguably not a traditional goalscorer. Still, the youngster has a lot of potential.

Hopefully, the Ghanaian will gain the experience of playing in the Premier League at Brighton and thrive there. The Seagulls will also compete in the Europa League in the 2023/24 term. Who knows, maybe down the line, we will once again set our sights on the attacker.
