Knee injury rules out any possibility that Amad Diallo will leave Manchester United this summer
As per The Athletic (subscription required), a knee injury has ruled out any possible loan move for young Manchester United winger Amad Diallo this summer.
The Ivorian was not a part of the United squad that faced Borussia Dortmund in a pre-season game in Las Vegas.
Later on, tests revealed that the 21-year-old will be out of action for the first part of the coming season. It automatically brushes aside any hopes of him going out on loan by the end of this transfer window.
Amad had a successful loan spell at Sunderland last time around when he scored 14 goals and assisted four in 43 appearances in all competitions. He almost led the Northeastern club to the playoff final before losing to Luton Town.
The 21-year-old, who started his career as a youth player for Atalanta before making a senior debut there, is a left-footed right winger who can operate as a number 10 or a false nine.
There was actually interest from Serie A clubs for a possible loan move before the knee injury was confirmed.
This setback has also diminished any chances of the Ivorian staking his claim to start games for United. His focus must be on recovering quickly and hoping to impress Erik ten Hag in the following training sessions.
As of now, the Red Devils have a lot of options in the wide areas going forward. Antony is most likely to start on the right wing, while Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford can also play there. Facundo Pellistri could push for a spot there.

If Amad does not get much game time after his recovery, he may look for a January loan move. He should play more rather than warming the bench.
