Bayern Munich and Inter Milan ‘interested’ in former Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea
Former Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea is attracting interest from Bayern Munich and Inter Milan this summer, according to Marca (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Spaniard is a free agent at the moment after his contract with the Red Devils expired at the end of June. To that end, the Bundesliga giants and the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza side are looking to acquire veteran goalkeeper services in the ongoing transfer window.
As things stand, the 32-year-old has an offer on the table from an unnamed Saudi Arabian outfit, who have revealed their salary package. However, he prefers to stay in Europe for now.
United signed De Gea in the summer of 2011 from Atletico Madrid. The shot-stopper was part of the last Red Devils’ team to win the Premier League title back in 2013.
There was a point in time when the Spaniard was considered one of the best in his position. However, over the last few years, the veteran goalkeeper has not been at his finest and looked uncomfortable last season under Erik ten Hag.
At Bayern, Manuel Neuer has been their number one for a considerable period. However, the 37-year-old is on the sidelines at the moment. The German seems to be in the final stretch of his career.
As for Inter, they have lost their first-choice shot-stopper Andre Onana to the Old Trafford side this summer. The Cameroonian was pivotal to their success last season. Samir Handanovic is also no longer at the Nerazzurri.
While De Gea seemingly did not suit the former Ajax head coach’s style of play at United, there is no doubt that he is still a quality shot-stopper. The veteran goalkeeper had the most clean sheets (17) in the Premier League last season.

On a free transfer, getting someone of the Spaniard’s quality is a bargain. Considering his age, the former Atletico star relatively arguably still has a few more years at the top in him.
