Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford reveals his best position on the pitch

Manchester United talisman Marcus Rashford, while speaking to ESPN, has revealed his best position and how he is ready to change formations to help the team.

Rashford was the star of Erik Ten Hag’s first season at United, leading the team to a 3rd league position while scoring in the Carabao Cup final to end the trophy drought at Old Trafford.

The England International scored 30 goal for United in all competitions, the first player to do s since Robin Van Persie did it to guide United to their last league title win more than ten years ago.

When asked about his favourite position on the pitch, Rashford admitted that he is more comfortable playing from the left and cutting in but is willing to change positions to help the team in any manner possible.

“Different games require different positions for me. There’s not a huge difference in terms of where I am, it’s just the starting positions are different, there are different responsibilities.

“I enjoy playing in both positions, probably a little more comfortable on the left-hand side but always coming into that centre-forward and half-space positions. It’s not much of a difference, but the main thing for me is I have to be in the areas to score goals.”

Clearly, Rashford has developed into a solid team player and is ready to take up the responsibility as one of the team’s leaders going forward.

His contract extension could not have come at a better place and special emphasis should be given to Erik Ten Hag for bringing the confidence back in the player, who looked like a shadow of his former self in the season before.

Rashford will be one of the key catalysts if United are to close the gap to Manchester City and Arsenal and his ability to play off the left or as the central striker will allow the manager to set up teams according to the opposition.

At the same time, his ability to play central will not put added pressure on new striker signing Rasmus Hojlund as he would be allowed to acclimatise to his new surroundings and at the same time, allow the growth of super-talented Alejandro Garnacho.

Big things are expected of Rashford in the coming season and the way he has been conducting himself shows that the electric forward is ready for the challenge. Hojlund’s imminent arrival means we can expect Rashford to be a pinned starter down the left flank.
