Real Sociedad want Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek on loan
Manchester United star Donny van de Beek is attracting interest from Real Sociedad in the ongoing transfer window, according to Noticias de Gipuzkoa (h/t Daily Mail).
The Reale Arena side are looking to acquire the services of the Holland international on a temporary move this summer. To that end, the La Liga outfit are ‘negotiating’ with the Old Trafford side to take the midfielder on loan, with an £8 million buy option.
As things stand, the 26-year-old’s current contract with the Red Devils runs until June 2025. However, he is considering parting ways with the club in the coming weeks.
United signed Van de Beek in the summer of 2020 from Ajax Amsterdam for £40 million. At the Eredivisie outfit, the Holland national showcased immense potential.
Unfortunately, the midfielder has been unable to live up to the expectations at the Old Trafford side. In January 2022, the 26-year-old even joined Everton on loan but was unable to do much.
Injuries have hampered Van de Beek’s career over the years. In the 2022/23 term, the Holland national missed the second half of the season after picking up an injury in January. The 26-year-old ended up making just 10 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils.
Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were added to United’s ranks last summer. In the ongoing transfer window, we have signed Mason Mount from Chelsea. Ten Hag also has Bruno Fernandes at his disposal.
Van de Beek arguably needs regular game time to get back into rhythm. However, considering the competition for places at the Old Trafford side, it would be wise for the Holland national to look for pastures new to restart his career.
