Benjamin Pavard not keen on new Bayern Munich contract amidst Manchester United interest
Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard has no intention of extending his current contract amidst interest from Manchester United, according to Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg on Twitter.
The France international’s existing deal with the Bavarians is set to expire next summer. As things stand, the right-back is looking to part ways with the Bundesliga outfit in the ongoing transfer window.
However, for now, the Allianz Arena side are waiting for a concrete offer to arrive for the 27-year-old. Apart from the Red Devils, Premier League rivals Manchester City and Serie A giants Juventus have the 2019 World Cup winner on their radar.
Pep Guardiola has Kyle Walker at his disposal for now. A swap deal between the Sky Blues and Bayern for the England international and Pavard is not something that is being looked at right now.
In the summer of 2019, the German giants signed the French national from VfB Stuttgart. He has been a key player for the Bavarians over the years, winning multiple league titles and a Champions League trophy.
Apart from the 27-year-old, Thomas Tuchel has Noussair Mazraoui and Josip Stanisic in their ranks for the right-hand side of the defence. It remains to be seen whether the 2018 World Cup winner will leave in the coming weeks.
At United, Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are the two options at Erik ten Hag’s disposal for the right-back position. The Portuguese and English nationals both were a big part of the gaffer’s plans last season.
The former FC Porto star was a key player for the Old Trafford side in the first half of the 2022/23 term. On the other hand, the former Crystal Palace star got his chances after the 2022 World Cup.
