Al Hilal eye Napoli striker and Manchester United target Victor Osimhen after Kylian Mbappe snub
Napoli star and Manchester United target Victor Osimhen will be pursued by AL Hilal after their failure to convince Kylian Mbappe, according to L’Equipe journalist Loic Tanzi on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Saudi Pro League outfit were interested in acquiring the services of the 2018 World Cup winner from Paris Saint-Germain. However, the France international snubbed them.
Al Hila bid £259 million to get a hold of the 24-year-old’s signature. But he was not keen on a move to Saudi Arabia. Now, the Riyadh-based club will turn their attention to the Serie A giants’ Nigeria international.
United have been linked with a move for Osimhen this summer. However, the Red Devils have cooled their intention to buy the 24-year-old somewhat after having doubts over Napoli’s willingness to listen to offers for him.
The Nigerian signed for the Partenopei in the summer of 2020 from LOSC Lille. In the previous campaign, the striker showcased the extent of his talent.
Napoli lifted the Serie A title after a 33-year barren spell. Osimhen was pivotal in that success, scoring 26 goals and providing five assists in 32 league matches.
At United, the number nine position seemingly lacks depth and quality. Anthony Martial is the only natural striker at Erik ten Hag’s disposal. However, the 27-year-old has been injury-prone since the Dutch manager’s arrival.
The gaffer has deployed Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford up front during pre-season. However, we evidently need a better option capable of consistently finding the back of the net.

Osimhen has proven his prolificity in Italy. He is arguably better than the players Ten Hag has in his ranks for the number nine position. But will Al Hilal manage to take another European superstar to the Middle East? Only time will tell.
