Manchester United face competition from Arsenal and Chelsea for Axel Disasi
As per the Sun (h/t Football London), Manchester United to face competition from London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea for Monaco defender Axel Disasi.
The report claims that the French side rate the player at around £34m. Along with the Red Devils, Newcastle United had also shown interest in him.
Although it is revealed that United may go Disasi’s signature if Diogo Dalot is sold, the latter has recently signed a new deal with the club.
Moreover, the former chiefly plays as a centre-back who can occasionally operate as a right-back. So, this interconnected link makes no sense.
After seeing Harry Maguire lose his captaincy following a lack of game time under Erik ten Hag, one can imagine why United are looking at signing a centre-back.
They have recently added Jonny Evans on a short-term deal, but that is not the solution to the depth issue in that department.
Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez would be the first-choice partnership. What is there after that? Victor Lindelof is there but not reliable, Maguire isn’t trusted much by ten Hag and Shaw has played there as and when required.
There was a reason why United wanted to sign South Korean defender Kim Min-jae. The former Napoli player eventually joined German champions Bayern Munich this summer.
Disasi is quite a dynamic centre-back who is good on the ball, has the pace to match the runs of pacy forwards and likes a physical battle or two.

It would make a lot of sense for United to sign the Frenchman. With Chelsea and Arsenal interested, they might have to speed up this file to prevent any defeat in the transfer race. The price mentioned is reasonable as well. Nothing should stop the club from going hard at making this happen.
