Manchester United drop Fred price tag to €12 million amidst Galatasaray interest
Manchester United want €12 million to part ways with Fred in the ongoing transfer window amidst interest from Galatasaray, according to Fanatik (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Turkish giants are interested in acquiring the Brazil international’s services this summer. To that end, the Super Lig outfit have already made an offer to the Red Devils for the midfielder.
Galatasaray proposed an €8 million fee to get a hold of the 30-year-old’s signature. However, the Old Trafford side are holding out for a higher valuation.
United signed Fred in the summer of 2018 from Shakhtar Donetsk. Subsequently, the midfielder played a bit-part role in his debut campaign for the Red Devils.
However, the 30-year-old’s influence subsequently grew as the years went by. Alongside Scott McTominay, the Brazilian was heavily relied upon by various managers in the double pivot position.
But with the arrival of Erik ten Hag, Fred has fallen down the pecking order. In the previous campaign, while the midfielder racked up 56 appearances in all competitions for the Old Trafford side, he started in just 12 matches in the Premier League.
The 30-year-old was seen as a backup option by the Dutch manager in his first year in charge of the Manchester-based club. In the previous campaign, the gaffer had the Brazilian’s compatriot Casemiro and Christian Eriksen at his disposal.
Ten Hag preferred the former Real Madrid star and the Danish national in the starting lineup. The two were key to our success in the 2022/23 term, especially the Brazilian captain.

Now, we have also added Mason Mount to our ranks. Fred has been unable to showcase consistency during his time at the Old Trafford side. Considering his age, it seems like the right time to cash in on the 30-year-old. But it remains to be seen whether the club will be able to reach a compromise with Galatasaray.
