Leon Goretzka commits future at Bayern Munich amidst Manchester United interest
Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka has no intention of leaving Bayern Munich in the ongoing transfer window amidst interest from Manchester United.
The Red Devils have been linked with the Germany international for some time now but have been unable to acquire his services. Despite the arrival of Mason Mount, the Old Trafford side would like another addition to the engine room.
To that end, the Bavarians are open to parting ways with the 28-year-old in the coming weeks. The Bundesliga giants have placed a £34 million price tag on the midfielder’s head.
However, speaking to Sky Germany (h/t Metro), Goretzka has committed his future to Bayern. The German national is happy at the Bavarians and wants to stay.
“I have no intention to leave Bayern. I love the club, I love the city, I love the fans.”
In the summer of 2018, the Bundesliga giants signed the 28-year-old from Schalke 04. Since then, the midfielder has been a key part of the Allianz Arena side’s success over the years, winning multiple league titles and the Champions League trophy in 2020.
However, in the previous campaign, Goretzka was not at his best. Now, the German national will have to compete with the likes of Joshua Kimmich, Konrad Laimer and Ryan Gravenberch to get into Thomas Tuchel’s team.
As for United, we have Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes in our ranks. The trio were Erik ten Hag’s go-to in the middle of the park last season.
With the addition of Mount, the Red Devils have arguably strengthened their midfield. However, the Old Trafford side still seem to lack quality in the engine room, with Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek failing to be consistent when called upon.
