Alex Telles ends his three-year stint at Manchester United to team up with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr
30-year-old Brazil international Alex Telles has officially left Manchester United on a permanent deal to sign Saudi Arabia side Al-Nassr and team up with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Telles, who was signed by United in October 2020, was on loan at Spanish club Sevilla last season. He was a part of their team that lifted the Europa League, beating the Red Devils in the process.
Since arriving at the club, the former Porto left-back could not cement his place as the first-choice player in his position. That was probably one of the main reasons he was loaned out last summer. A permanent move has now taken place.
The other reason behind this departure could be the fact that United have two very good left-backs in the squad. Luke Shaw is the undisputed number one while Tyrell Malacia has done well since arriving last summer.
Keeping everything in mind, this is a good move for all parties. United get a player off their books knowing he wouldn’t be of much use next season. So, instead of loaning him out, it is better to book the permanent departure ticket.
Erik ten Hag might be looking to sell one or two more players in this window. Scott McTominay has been a subject of interest for West Ham United. It would be good if the Scotsman leaves the club, allowing them to sign a new midfielder, re. Sofyan Amrabat.
United have recently signed Andre Onana to take care of an important position in the team – goalkeeper. Along with the midfield situation, they must sign a striker soon. Rasmus Hojlund is the target and there is hope that the club will get him in the coming days.
