Aaron Wan-Bissaka part of Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag’s plans
Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka has managed to make a place for himself in Erik ten Hag’s plans ahead of next season, according to The Sun (h/t Metro).
As things stand, the English national’s current contract with the Red Devils is set to expire next summer. However, the Old Trafford side intend to trigger the one-year extension option in his deal.
Subsequently, United are willing to discuss fresh terms with the 25-year-old. The right-back is considered part of the Dutch manager’s long-term thought process at the Manchester-based club.
In the summer of 2019, the Red Devils signed Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace. Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the defender was a mainstay in the Old Trafford side’s starting lineup.
However, with the Norwegian’s departure, the English national’s fortunes at United changed. Former interim manager Ralf Rangnick preferred Diogo Dalot in his team.
Subsequently, with the arrival of Erik ten Hag, the Portugal international was one of the first names on the teamsheet initially. As a result, the former Palace star found himself down in the pecking order.
As a result, Wan-Bissaka hardly featured for the Red Devils before the 2022 World Cup under Erik ten Hag. But the gaffer started to give the 25-year-old more opportunities in the second half of the season.
The English national made the most of the chances he was given by Ten Hag and crept back into the starting lineup. In the end, the defender made 34 appearances in all competitions, providing one assist for the Old Trafford side in the 2022/23 term.

With Dalot and Wan-Bissaka, the Dutch manager has two decent options at his disposal. Therefore, it is wise of the Manchester-based club to keep a hold of the former Palace star for the time being.
