Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has declined to talk about the club’s interest in Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane in the ongoing transfer window.

After the addition of Mason Mount and Andre Onana to the Red Devils’ ranks, the focus is now on bolstering the number nine position. To that end, Spurs striker is one of the options liked by the Old Trafford side.

As things stand, the England international’s current contract with the North London side is set to expire next summer. However, a move for the 29-year-old looks unlikely, with Daniel Levy not keen on selling him to a domestic rival.

Speaking to the media via Mirror, Ten Hag was reluctant to talk about Kane being linked to United. However, the gaffer assured that the club would reinforce the attack in the coming weeks.

“I don’t talk about specific players who are under contract at another club. We will do everything in our power to get the right man in. We know our targets. We will put the effort in to get things done.”

In the previous campaign, the Dutch manager had Anthony Martial at his disposal. Unfortunately, the French national struggled with injuries and was unavailable for the most part.

Subsequently, in January, the Red Devils signed Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley to provide cover up front. The Holland international was a key player for Ten Hag but was arguably not up to our standards.

Thankfully, Marcus Rashford stepped up to the plate last season and consistently found the back of the net. However, towards the end of the 2022/23 term, even the 25-year-old’s form dipped a bit.

During pre-season, Jadon Sancho has started as the number nine in the games against Leeds United and Olympique Lyon. Therefore, we evidently could do with someone like Kane in our ranks right now.

However, the Red Devils cannot waste time pursuing a target who is seemingly unattainable at the moment. But it remains to be seen who we will end up singing in the coming weeks.
