French superstar Kylian Mbappe dropped out of Paris Saint-Germain’s squad amid rising interest from European giants
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have made a surprising move by excluding their star forward, Kylian Mbappe, from their pre-season squad and making him available for transfer.
The 24-year-old footballer is widely recognised as one of the best players in the world, having an impressive track record with PSG, scoring 212 goals and providing 98 assists in 260 matches across various competitions.
Mbappe’s talent is not limited to his club performances, as he has also been a crucial asset for the French national team. He has found the back of the net 40 times in 70 appearances for France, significantly contributing to their success in reaching consecutive World Cup finals.
In 2018, he played a pivotal role in France’s World Cup victory, but their journey in the 2022 Qatar tournament ended with disappointment.
Despite his remarkable achievements, PSG’s decision to leave Mbappe out of their pre-season squad and put him on the market has raised eyebrows in the football world. This development has sparked interest among potential suitors eager to secure the services of the highly talented forward.
One of those potential suitors are Manchester United, who are craving to add a new centre-forward to their much-improved line-up under Erik ten Hag.
They have earmarked their next position to be strengthened and have been preparing an opening bid for Atalanta ace Rasmus Hojlund. Meanwhile, Mbappe is a big name on the market, but United are yet to open talks for the player.
His astronomical asking price is a major stumbling block in pursuing a deal. The future of the attacker has been surrounded by uncertainty, mainly because he has declined to accept the one-year contract extension offered in his current deal.
This situation implies that, at present, he could potentially leave the French giants on a free transfer next year.
Mbappe has been omitted from the squad travelling to Japan and South Korea for upcoming games. The decision was made because the French champions want players who are fully committed to the club on the tour.
Despite scoring in PSG’s recent 2-0 victory over Le Havre, Mbappe will not participate in the team’s next four matches and seems to have played his final game for the club.
As a result, the 24-year-old has been put up for sale in the current transfer market. PSG believes that the player has already agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer, and they are determined to receive a substantial transfer fee for him.
Along with United, several other Premier League teams, including Liverpool and Chelsea, are likely to be closely monitoring the situation.
However, talking about United, it is obvious that the Red Devils won’t be open to spending a record fee for the French striker. The club is already making smart, pocket-friendly moves in the current market, and all of a sudden spending a club record fee on a player seems way out of sight.
But Mbappe‘s departure from Paris could also make things difficult for United, as PSG will undoubtedly be looking for a quality attacker if they lose their star player.
Currently, they are also keeping an eye on United target Rasmus Hojlund and Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic.
They have the financial power to attract either of the players, so the Red Devils should be quick to sign the Danish playmaker in the upcoming weeks. A race with the French powerhouse could turn ugly if not judged properly.
