Marcus Rashford to turn down lucrative offers and sign new Manchester United contract
Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is set to turn down lucrative offers from other teams to sign a new contract at the Red Devils, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required).
The England international is going to put pen to paper on fresh terms at the Old Trafford side soon. As things stand, the club have reached an agreement in principle with the forward on a five-year deal.
United have been in talks with Rashford for quite some time. Finally, it looks like the 25-year-old will commit his future to the Red Devils. The academy graduate’s existing contract with the club will end next summer.
At the moment, the Old Trafford side are in the final stages of negotiations with the forward’s representative. While the English national had other proposals on the table, he dreams of winning major honours at his boyhood outfit.
Rashford made his way through the youth ranks at United and has developed into one of our best academy players in the last few years. The forward is an example for other prospects looking to make their way into the Red Devils’ first team.
Unfortunately, in the previous campaign, the English national looked short on confidence and struggled to make an impact. Subsequently, the 25-year-old had lost his place in the starting lineup under Ralf Rangnick.
Thankfully, Erik ten Hag has managed to bring the best out of Rashford once again. In the previous campaign, the English national was the only reliable outlet for the gaffer in front of goal.
Last season, in 56 appearances in all competitions for us, the forward found the back of the net 30 times and provided 11 assists. The 25-year-old was our talisman as we won the Carabao Cup and made it into the top four in the Premier League.
