Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix back on Manchester United radar
Manchester United have reignited their interest in Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix in the ongoing transfer window, according to ABC (h/t The Sun).
In January, the Old Trafford side were looking to acquire the Portugal international’s services. However, he ended up joining Premier League rivals Chelsea on loan.
Now, the forward wants to make a return to the English top flight. To that end, he has asked Jorge Mendes to facilitate a move away from Los Rojiblancos this summer.
As things stand, the Red Devils have opened talks with the 23-year-old. However, we are not the only ones in the race, with Newcastle United and Aston Villa also pursuing his signature.
Atletico signed Felix in the summer of 2019 from SL Benfica. The Portuguese was one of the most promising prospects back then, but he has fallen down the pecking order under Diego Simeone in recent months.
Los Rojiblancos wanted to sell the forward. However, his valuation has dropped in the last few seasons. Therefore, the La Liga giants are open to parting ways with the 23-year-old on another temporary move.
At United, the forward line lacks depth up front. Anthony Martial is the only natural striker at Erik ten Hag’s disposal right now. Marcus Rashford is an option the gaffer opted for in the number nine position last season.
However, we evidently need more quality in the attack. Felix proved himself at Chelsea. The Portuguese did not look overwhelmed by the PL and was one of the Blues’ best players in the second half of the 2022/23 term.

Thus, getting him on loan looks like a decent option for the Old Trafford side. It would not affect our current transfer budget much and would also give us a chance to see how the 23-year-old will fare in the team before possibly making a move permanent.
