Neymar makes a decision on his future at PSG amid recent Manchester United links
According to the Manchester Evening News, Neymar has changed his mind about leaving Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this summer and is now eager to continue playing in Paris under former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique.
The Brazilian star is said to be looking forward to continuing his career at PSG rather than seeking a move elsewhere.
There were recent rumours suggesting that Manchester United are in talks with the 31-year-old attacker regarding a potential move. It was said that potential suitor Sheikh Jassim wants to see Neymar work his magic at Old Trafford.
United manager Erik ten Hag was believed to be keen on strengthening his attacking options in the summer transfer window.
It was also suggested that PSG didn’t rule out the chances of selling Neymar, whom they had acquired from Barcelona in 2017 for a then-world-record fee.
But now the player has committed himself to the French champions ahead of a new season, putting a dent in the Red Devils hopes of landing him. The arrival of Luis Enrique has also put a halt to Neymar’s possible departure from the club.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and sporting advisor Luis Campos will certainly be happy to hear about this, as they have already lost Lionel Messi to Inter Miami this summer. They are also unsure about Kylian Mbappe’s future at the club beyond the summer.
Losing another star player could have been costly for the Ligue 1 side. As per the South American star’s latest thread posts, he is now focused on staying and making a strong comeback with PSG for the upcoming season.
The Brazilian attacker endured a season-ending injury in March, causing him to miss crucial matches towards the end of the season. However, he would be working on his fitness during the pre-season to help himself get back to his best shape under new manager Enrique.
Neymar and Enrique had a successful partnership during their time together in Barcelona from 2014 to 2017. They achieved significant success, including winning the Champions League and two La Liga titles.
When the star attacker joined PSG, the club hoped he would lead them to their first-ever Champions League victory, but their best result so far has been reaching the final in 2020.
With Enrique’s potential arrival, there is hope that he can help fulfil the club’s long-desired ambition. As a result, Man United may now need to shift their focus to other options in their pursuit of new signings for the forward department, as Neymar‘s availability seems unlikely.
In our opinion, we didn’t see these transfer links getting much stronger in recent weeks. These claims were acceptable, but it was still uncertain whether the United management were ready to match the Brazilian star’s astronomical wage bill.
Ten Hag is trying to build a strict philosophy at the club, and offering such high wages to a newly signed player could disturb the squad’s harmony. Also, his poor injury record could have been another issue to be dealt with.
No doubt, Neymar is a world-class player, but Ten Hag has ample options at his position with the arrival of Mason Mount.

Also, the deal wouldn’t have come cheap, and we don’t see the club splashing the majority of their transfer budget on just one player.
Things may change in the future, but under the current circumstances, the fans need to know what is right or wrong for a huge club like Man United.
