Mason Mount convinced by Erik ten Hag to join Manchester United from Chelsea
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was a reason for Mason Mount to consider a switch to the Old Trafford side from Chelsea, according to Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy on Twitter (h/t Express).
The England international had just one year left on his contract at the Blues, with an extension not in sight. As a result, the likes of the Red Devils, as well as Premier League rivals Liverpool, were interested in the playmaker.
In the end, the Manchester-based club came out on top in the race to acquire the 24-year-old’s services. The midfielder will leave the Stamford Bridge side for a package deal worth £60 million.
Erik ten Hag introduced 83 principles when he arrived at Manchester United. Many explained what to do without the ball: Mason Mount ticks all the core traits he seeks, while being comfortable as a creator. Midfielder wowed by EtH's level of detail on his game + appreciation of it

United’s pursuit was helped by Ten Hag. The Dutch manager ‘wowed’ Mount with his insight and appreciation regarding the English national’s game.
The former Ajax Amsterdam head coach introduced 83 principles on his arrival to the Old Trafford side’s dugout. To that end, the 24-year-old’s traits are in line with what the gaffer wants from a player in the middle of the park.
Mount is a hard worker off the ball. Also, the playmaker has showcased his abilities at Chelsea over the years to find the right pass in the final third of the pitch.
However, it will be interesting to see how Ten Hag will fit the English national in United’s starting lineup. The 24-year-old will seemingly face tough competition from the likes of Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro.
However, the Danish international evidently looks the most expendable. Therefore, it would not be a surprise to see Mount playing in a deeper role alongside Casemiro at the Red Devils.
