Marcus Rashford and Manchester United ‘very close’ to contract agreement
Manchester United are ‘very close’ to agreeing a new contract with Marcus Rashford and securing his future for the long-term, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano via CaughtOffside (h/t Manchester Evening News).
As things stand, the Red Devils are yet to reach a consensus with the England international regarding fresh terms. However, the forward and the Old Trafford side are in advanced negotiations at the moment.
The 25-year-old’s deal was set to expire this summer before United triggered the option to extend it by a further year. Now, the Manchester-based club are looking to get him to put pen to paper on a new contract.
Rashford made his way through the youth ranks at the Old Trafford side. Subsequently, the forward broke into the first-team setup in the 2016/17 season.
Over the years, he has developed into one of our finest academy products. Unfortunately, towards the end of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign in the United dugout, the English national struggled a lot.
Ralf Rangnick was unable to bring the best out of him as well. Thankfully, Erik ten Hag’s arrival has spurred on the 25-year-old and he has regained some form.
In the previous campaign, Rashford was our talisman. He was the Red Devils’ leading goalscorer in all competitions. The forward was the only one the Dutch manager was able to rely on to find the back of the net consistently.
Unfortunately, towards the end of the season, the English national hit a rough patch. During that time, the Old Trafford side struggled to score goals.
