Manchester United want to sort out our Andre Onana transfer from Inter Milan soon
By Tuesday (4 July), Manchester United plan to sort out acquiring the services of Andre Onana from Inter Milan, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils have set their deadline to complete a deal for the Cameroonian. However, it will be interesting to see whether the Old Trafford side will be able to organise the shot-stopper’s switch from the Nerazzurri by then.
As things stand, David de Gea is no longer under contract with United. The Spaniard’s deal with the Manchester-based club expired at the end of last month.
Thus, we are now left with Dean Henderson and Tom Heaton as the two senior goalkeepers in our ranks. But the 26-year-old was on loan at Nottingham Forest last season, while the 37-year-old has hardly featured for the Red Devils over the years.
Therefore, we evidently need to do something about the situation in between the sticks. The shot-stopping department evidently needs reinforcements in the ongoing transfer window.
As such, the Old Trafford side are ‘in a hurry‘ to get a hold of Onana’s signature. Inter signed the 27-year-old in the summer of 2022 as a free agent.
Previously, the Cameroonian used to play under Erik ten Hag at Ajax. The Dutch manager was the one who developed the goalkeeper in the Netherlands into an exceptional player.
As a result, Onana has showcased his talent and has admirable skills with the ball at his feet for a shot-stopper. The Cameroonian’s exceptional distribution was on display in the Champions League final against Manchester City.

Therefore, he evidently fits Ten Hag’s style of play and is familiar with the gaffer’s ideas. But will the 27-year-old be the next number one at United? Only time will tell.
