Manchester United are expected to part ways with a midfielder this summer after completing the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The Red Devils have reached an agreement with the Blues over the arrival of the England international. As things stand, the 24-year-old has accepted a five-year contract with the Old Trafford side.

As a result, now, United are planning to part ways with a player from the current crop in the middle of the park. Fred is one of the names the Red Devils have put on the market. Fulham are interested in the Brazilian.

Donny van de Beek could also end his stint at the Old Trafford side this summer. The Holland international has been underwhelming and has failed to live up to the expectations since making his way to the Manchester-based club in the summer of 2020.

Scott McTominay has been linked with a number of teams in the ongoing transfer window as well. However, United have no plans of getting rid of the Scotland international as of yet.

Hannibal Mejbri is another player the Red Devils will listen to offers for. However, it would not be wise to offload a bunch of players and then struggle for depth in the engine room midway through the season.

In the 2022/23 campaign, we had to sign Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich. The Austrian’s arrival helped us cope with injuries and suspensions.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were Erik ten Hag’s go-to in his first year in charge of the club. However, the season is long and injuries are part and parcel of the game.

Hopefully, United will go into next season better prepared than the last. It will be interesting to see who the gaffer will decide is surplus to requirements in the coming weeks.
