Arsenal set to face Manchester United competition for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni
Manchester United are set to battle Premier League rivals Arsenal for Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni this summer, according to Nacional (h/t The Sun).
Mikel Arteta has the France international on his wishlist in the ongoing transfer window. However, the Red Devils also have the midfielder on their radar.
Los Blancos signed the 23-year-old in the summer of 2022 from AS Monaco. After a promising start, he fell down the pecking order in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans in the previous campaign.
Tchouameni is now available and on the market for the right price. To that end, Erik ten Hag is ‘pressing’ the Old Trafford side to acquire the services of the French national.
The 23-year-old is one of the finest prospects in world football. But the Spanish giants have an abundance of talent in the engine room with the likes of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Jude Bellingham.
As for Arsenal, they are building on their decent 2022/23 campaign. They are close to getting a hold of Declan Rice’s signature. The Gunners have also signed Kai Havertz from Chelsea.
On the other hand, United are close to completing a move for Mason Mount. The 24-year-old will join the likes of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay in the engine room.
However, last season, we evidently lacked depth in the middle of the park. The Red Devils signed Marcel Sabitzer on loan in January from Bayern Munich to provide cover.

Tchouameni has struggled over the last few months. However, the midfielder has shown his know-how and technical skills at AS Monaco and in the 2022 World Cup. But will the Old Trafford side or Arsenal make a move for him? Only time will tell.
