Adrien Rabiot signs one-year contract at Juventus amidst Manchester United interest
Juventus have officially tied down Adrien Rabiot to a one-year contract extension amidst interest from Manchester United, according to the Italian outfit’s official website via Manchester Evening News.
Previously, the France international was set to become a free agent at the end of this month, with his deal expiring. To that end, the Red Devils were planning on acquiring the services of the midfielder as a free agent.
Last summer, the 28-year-old was on the Old Trafford side’s radar. We had agreed a deal with the Bianconeri for him. However, the club were unable to accept terms with the former Paris Saint-Germain star.
Rabiot looked likely to leave the Old Lady in the ongoing transfer window to try a new challenge. But the French national was surprised that not a lot of teams were eyeing his signature.
Juventus signed the midfielder in the summer of 2019. Since then, he has been a pivotal member of the Serie A giants’ starting lineup. However, the Bianconeri have not been at their best over the last few years.
In the previous campaign, Massimiliano Allegri’s team were underwhelming. But the 28-year-old was one of the Italian outfit’s positives. He also shone for Les Bleus in the 2022 World Cup.
United went through a concerning period in January. Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek both picked up injuries. We were left with Casemiro, Fred and Scott McTominay as the only established option in the engine room.
We ended up getting Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich. It turned out to be an inspiring addition to the squad, considering the former Real Madrid star also picked up a couple of red card suspensions.

However, we should evidently not go into next season with a lack of depth in the middle of the park. Rabiot would have been a quality option as a free agent. However, it looks like the Old Trafford side will have to look at other targets.
