Mason Mount to join Chelsea pre-season amidst Manchester United transfer uncertainty
Chelsea star Mason Mount has decided to report for the Blues’ pre-season preparations amidst uncertainty around the move to Manchester United, according to The Telegraph.
The Red Devils’ third bid worth £55 million was rejected by the Stamford Bridge side recently. While the Old Trafford side have kept the offer on the table, they have no intention of talking further with the West London club.
That leaves the England international in limbo over his future. Chelsea will also have to decide whether they will lower their demands or let the midfielder join the squad, with the Blues set to fly to the United States on 17 July.
As things stand, Mount has just one year left on his current contract at the Stamford Bridge side. The 24-year-old has not extended his contract at the West London club so far.
The playmaker made his way through the youth ranks at Chelsea. Subsequently, the English national broke into the first-team setup a few years back and has been a pivotal player for the Blues ever since.
Therefore, it is understandable that Mount is still committed to his boyhood club, despite talks of a move to United. However, it remains to be seen whether Mauricio Pochettino will want to take the English national on tour in light of all the speculation.
At United, we should not be expected to wait forever for the English national. The Red Devils have their own season to prepare for. Therefore, unless Chelsea are willing to accept our offer soon, it would be wise for us to focus on other targets.
In the midfield, the Old Trafford side could evidently do with more quality. While Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were decent in the previous campaign, we lack depth in the engine room, with the likes of Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek being inconsistent.

Hopefully, Mount’s future will be resolved soon. The 24-year-old has the talent to become a regular part of United’s midfield trio. But will a deal come to fruition? Only time will tell.
