Inter Milan will expect an offer for Andre Onana from Manchester United this week
As per Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News), Inter Milan are expecting a €50m offer from Manchester United for goalkeeper Andre Onana this week.
The report reveals that United are ready to step up their pursuit of Onana as it is highly likely that David de Gea will leave the club for free this summer.
Onana is admired by the Red Devils hierarchy. The Cameroon international played under Erik ten Hag when the duo were at Ajax.
De Gea really struggled to meet the demands of Ten Hag as a goalkeeper. Although the Spaniard is a great shot-stopper, he is not the most comfortable when asked to play out from the back.
In fact, during the 2022/23 season, the 32-year-old had issues saving shots as well. The best example was when a crawling shot from Ilkay Gundogan in the FA Cup final was too hot for him to handle.
Onana, on the other hand, as he showed in the Champions League final, is comfortable on the ball, can sweep up the space behind the defensive line, and is a good shot-stopper as well.
So, the former Ajax stopper would be a great addition to the United squad. All good teams that aspire to challenge for league titles must have a keeper who is great at what the manager is asking him to do.
Onana would know a lot about Ten Hag and his demands, which would be helpful in his integration into the team ahead of the start of the next season.
