Napoli hold meeting with Manchester United target Victor Osimhen to discuss new contract
Victor Osimhen met with Napoli to discuss a new contract amidst interest from Manchester United in the ongoing transfer window, according to Sky Italia (h/t Mirror).
Aurelio De Laurentiis, the president of the Partenopei, held talks with Roberto Calenda, the striker’s representative. The two had a ‘relaxed’ meeting regarding the Nigeria international’s future.
As things stand, the forward’s current contract at the Italian outfit runs until June 2025. The 24-year-old agent asked for a pay rise for his client after the Serie A giants’ historic campaign.
Napoli won the Scudetto after 33 years. Osimhhen was pivotal to that success. The Nigerian found the back of the net 31 times and provided five assists in 39 appearances in all competitions last season.
In the meeting, De Laurentiis insisted that the Partenopei value the striker at £129 million. The Serie A giants’ chief will hold talks with the 24-year-old’s camp again in the near future.
Osimhen is not just on the Old Trafford side’s radar. Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in acquiring the attacker’s services. However, the Parisians had a bid rejected recently by the Italian outfit.
At United, the number nine position lacks quality and depth as things stand. Anthony Martial has been injury prone since Erik ten hag’s arrival in the Red Devils’ dugout.
In January, we signed Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley to add cover up front due to the former AS Monaco star’s fitness issues. The French and Holland internationals were underwhelming in their own regard in the 2022/23 campaign.

Osimhen has built a pedigree of being deadly in the box. The Nigerian has developed a keen eye for goal during his time in Naples. However, whether the 24-year-old will commit his future to Napoli remains to be seen.
