Alex Telles wants to leave Manchester United this summer to return to Porto
As per Portuguese outlet O Jogo (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United left-back Alex Telles is seeking a return to FC Porto during this summer transfer window.
It is also revealed that the Brazilian was due to be sold by United because his contract at Old Trafford expires next summer.
Telles, who spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Sevilla, was signed by Red Devils from Porto for a fee of around £15.4m in October 2020.
Once Erik ten Hag took the job last summer, he sent the 30-year-old on loan to Sevilla where the player won the Europa League.
The former Galatasaray and Inter Milan player did not manage to get regular game time even when he was in the squad for the two seasons (2020/21 and 2021/22).
He made 50 appearances in all competitions for United, not even amassing a total of 4000 minutes. So, even the regime that signed the Brazilian from Porto did not have complete faith in him.
Moreover, to add competition to Luke Shaw’s place at left-back, the club signed Tyrell Malacia. Diogo Dalot was used as a right-footed left-back in a couple of games last season and the Portuguese did well there.
Keeping all these things in mind, it makes sense why the player wants to leave the club this summer. To be fair, United had already planned to sell him when he returned from the loan spell at Sevilla anyway.

So, even if Porto does not offer crazy money for Telles, the Red Devils should make sure the deal happens and the player signs for the Portuguese giants. Having signed him for £15.4m, the club cannot expect an abundance of profit by underplaying him here.
