Manchester United believed to be out of West Ham United captain Declan Rice race
Manchester United are not believed to be in the race to acquire the services of West Ham United captain Declan Rice in the ongoing transfer window.
The long-drawn-out takeover saga at the Old Trafford side is seen as a reason for the club’s lack of action in the pursuit of the England international. As things stand, the Red Devils are still uncertain about the ownership status going into next season.
Speaking to Football FanCast (h/t Manchester Evening News), GiveMeSport’s Dean Jones is of the opinion that the 24-year-old is not on Man United’s agenda this summer as things stand.
“I don’t think they’re in the race for Rice right now. I think in an ideal world, they would be, maybe if the takeover had actually happened, they could have been. But as it stands right now, don’t think Rice is going to come into their thoughts.”
In November last year, the Glazers put the Old Trafford side up for sale. However, it has been seven months and there is still no clarity regarding who will be in charge of the club.
Rice has been one of the best midfielders in the English top flight for some time now. A club of the Red Devils’ stature should evidently be eyeing the English national as a potential option.
The West Ham captain did not enjoy the best of domestic seasons last term. However, the 24-year-old ended up lifting the UEFA Europa Conference League title.
At Man United, Casemiro turned out to be a brilliant addition to the squad. Unfortunately, we seemingly lack cover in the number six position. Scott McTominay and Fred have not been up to the mark consistently.
On the other hand, Christian Eriksen also looked a bit underwhelming towards the end of the previous campaign. As a result, it looks like the Old Trafford side need to bolster their engine room.

Apart from playing in the defensive midfield position, Rice can also play as a number eight. Unfortunately, it does not seem like we will be going after the 24-year-old anytime soon.
