Amad Diallo prefers Sunderland loan move from Manchester United
Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo prefers to be sent out on loan to Sunderland in the ongoing transfer window, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The 20-year-old spent the 2022/23 campaign on a temporary move at the Stadium of Light side. Last season, the Ivory Coast international thrived at the Black Cats and has returned to the Red Devils in fine nick.
However, the forward’s situation at the Old Trafford side is open this summer as things stand. The club will determine his future in the coming weeks, with the decision in Erik en Hag’s hands.
Amad enjoyed a fruitful spell at the Championship outfit. Now, the 20-year-old would like to stay and fight for a place at United. However, if the youngster has to leave, Tony Mowbray’s team is where his heart is set.
The Manchester-based club signed the Ivorian in January 2021 from Atalanta. However, he rarely has had opportunities at the Old Trafford side. The forward spent the second half of the 2021/ 22 season on loan at Rangers, but it was underwhelming.
Thankfully, Amad’s experience at Sunderland was positive. He made 42 appearances in all competitions for the Stadium of Light side, scoring 14 goals and providing four assists.
The 20-year-old showcased his versatility at the Black Cats, playing as a centre-forward and in the number 10 role. However, Mowbray mostly played the youngster on the right wing.
At United, the right-hand side of the attack was dominated by Antony last season. Ten Hag preferred the Brazilian in his team. However, the former Ajax Amsterdam star was inconsistent. Also, the likes of Jadon Sancho, Facundo Pellistri and Anthony Elanga did not have a big enough impact in that position either.
