Manchester United looking for ‘quick resolution’ in Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount transfer pursuit
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Manchester United are looking for a ‘quick resolution’ in their pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.
There is a feeling that the deal has to be completed by the end of next week. The Red Devils are not looking to dally and have no intention of prolonging the negotiations with the Blues for the England international.
As things stand, the Old Trafford side have accepted personal terms with the midfielder. Now, it is expected that the Stamford Bridge side will be willing to take £60–£65 million for the 24-year-old.
United have been chasing Mount for some time now. The Red Devils have already had two bids rejected by Chelsea for the playmaker.
The English national is the Blues’ academy graduate. Over the years, the midfielder has been one of the West London club’s best players. Although, the previous campaign saw a slump in his form.
Still, the 24-year-old possesses immense quality. However, his current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024. Therefore, it does not make sense for the Old Trafford side to spend over the top.
At United, Christian Eriksen arrived on a free transfer last summer. The Danish national surprised many with his performances last season and became a pivotal player in Erik ten Hag’s plans.
However, we could evidently do with an upgrade over the 31-year-old, who is not the best fitness-wise. Mount has the ability to play in the number eight position. The midfielder’s work rate at Chelsea has been admirable.

It is not always that a player with the talent of the English national is available on the market from a direct rival. Hopefully, we will be able to get a deal over the line soon and focus on other targets.
