Inter Milan shot-stopper Andre Onana in touch with Manchester United over potential transfer
Manchester United have held a meeting with Albert Botines, the agent of Inter Milan shot-stopper Andre Onana, regarding a potential move this summer, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Red Devils have sounded out the Cameroonian over a possible switch to the Old Trafford side in the ongoing transfer window. However, the Nerazzurri will not sell the 27-year-old for less than €50 million with add-ons.
As things stand, the Red Devils have made approaches for goalkeepers and are exploring their options in case David de Gea leaves. The Spaniard’s current contract with the club is set to expire at the end of this month (transfermarkt).
Inter signed Onana in the summer of 2022 as a free agent after his departure from Ajax Amsterdam. The Cameroonian thrived and developed at the Eredivisie club under Erik ten Hag.
Subsequently, at the Nerazzurri, the 27-year-old has displaced Samir Handanovic as the number one. Over the course of the season, the shot-stopper has put in some impressive displays.
However, Oanan’s performance against Manchester City in the Champions League final was admirable. Even though he ended up on the losing side, the Cameroonian showcased some confident distribution skills.
At United, Ten Hag seemingly wants to play the ball out from the back. In that regard, De Gea leaves a lot to be desired. While the 32-year-old is a brilliant shot-stopper, he has looked shaky in between the sticks under the Dutch manager.
At the moment, on the bench, the gaffer has Tom Heaton and Nathan Bishop as the backups in the goalkeeping department. Therefore, we evidently need to strengthen that department.

Even if De Gea does not part ways with the Red Devils this summer, we could seemingly do with someone like Onana in our ranks. However, will the Old Trafford side make a concrete approach for the 27-year-old? Only time will tell.
