Eintracht Frankfurt ‘remain interested’ in Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof
Manchester United star Victor Lindelof is on the radar of Eintracht Frankfurt in the ongoing transfer window, according to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Bundesliga outfit ‘remain interested’ in acquiring the services of the Sweden international this summer. As things stand, the centre-back’s current contract with the Old Trafford side is set to expire at the end of next season.
However, the Red Devils have opened talks over a new deal with him. Erik ten Hag has been impressed by the 28-year-old at the club and trusts him. But the German side are waiting in the wings to pounce on the defender’s signature.
United signed Lindelof in the summer of 2017 from SL Benfica. After being a backup in his debut season at the Old Trafford side, the Swedish national established himself in the starting lineup.
Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the defender formed a partnership with Harry Maguire in the backline. The two were ever-present in the Red Devils’ plans before Erik ten Hag’s arrival.
However, in the 2022/23 campaign, the 28-year-old and our skipper have lost their place in the team. They have mostly played a backup role to Lisandro Martine and Raphael Varane.
Ten Hag counted on the two World Cup winners in his first year in charge of the Manchester-based club. The Argentine and French nationals have been impressive together.
But Martinez and Varane suffered fitness issues last season. As a result, Lindelof was called on multiple occasions and put in decent displays. Towards the end of the campaign, the centre-back started in nine consecutive league matches.
