Napoli defender Kim Min-jae accepts Manchester United offer
Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Napoli star Kim Min-jae ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to Il Mattino via centredevils on Twitter (h/t The Sun).
The South Korean will be a new player for the Red Devils on 1 July. For some time now, the Old Trafford side have been linked with the defender and it looks like a deal is about to be completed.
To that end, the 26-year-old has accepted Man United’s contract offer. The centre-back is set to earn £9 million per year, which translates to about £175,000 per week.
The Old Trafford side faced severe competition from the likes of French champions Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League rivals Newcastle United. However, we have seemingly beaten the other teams in the race for Min-jae.
Napoli were keen on keeping a hold of the South Korean as well. The Partenopei wanted to tie the defender down to a new deal and remove his release clause.
The 26-year-old has turned into a key player for the Naples-based club after signing from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2022. Luciano Spalletti’s team counted on him in their backline as they lifted the Scudetto after over three decades.
United have an abundance of talent in their defence for now. The Red Devils relied on the partnership of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez the most in the 2022/23 campaign. The two World Cup winners have made us resolute at the back.
Erik ten Hag can also call upon Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof for now. However, the two have fallen down the pecking order since the Dutch manager’s arrival.
