Denzel Dumfries staying at Inter Milan amidst Manchester United interest
Inter Milan defender and Manchester United target Denzel Dumfries has revealed that he will be staying at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza side this summer.
The Red Devils have been linked with acquiring the services of the Holland international in the upcoming transfer window to bolster the right-hand side of the defence. But as things stand, the full-back’s current contract runs until June 2025.
Speaking to FC Inter News (h/t Manchester Evening News) after being beaten by Manchester City in the Champions League final, the 27-year-old was adamant about doing even better in the upcoming campaign.
“When we get back together, despite this defeat, we will be hungry for victory next season. What if I stay at Inter? Yes, at the moment I’m staying at Inter.”
Inter signed Dumfries in the summer of 2021 from PSV Eindhoven. Since then, he has been a key player for Simone Inzaghi’s team.
The Holland international has mostly played as a right wing-back at the Nerazzurri in the last two years. To that end, the defender has shown impressive attacking prowess, as was evident in the 2022 World Cup.
In the 2022/23 campaign, the 27-year-old made 51 appearances in all competitions for the Italian outfit, scoring two goals and providing seven assists. The Serie A giants missed out on the UCL trophy but won the Coppa Italia.
United’s right-back area has two decent players in Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The Portugal international was key to Erik ten Hag’s plans initially and recently signed a new long-term deal.
However, in recent months, the former Crystal Palace star pipped the 23-year-old in the pecking order. The English national put in some impressive displays.

Therefore, for now, we have enough depth on the right-hand side of the defence. It also seems like Dumfries has no intention of leaving Inter for now. But will the Old Trafford side opt to pursue him in the coming future? Only time will tell.
