Tottenham Hotspur reach agreement with Brentford shot-stopper David Raya amidst Manchester United interest
Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Brentford star David Raya amidst interest from Manchester United, according to Metro.
The shot-stopper’s current contract with the Bees is set to expire at the end of next season. To that end, the West London-based club have made the Spain international available ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
To that end, Spurs have reached a consensus with the goalkeeper on personal terms. However, the Gtech Community Stadium side want £40 million to part ways with the 27-year-old this summer.
Brentford signed Raya in the summer of 2019 from Blackburn Rovers. Since then, the shot-stopper has showcased his talent on a regular basis at the West London-based club.
The Spaniard is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers with the ball at his feet. In the last two campaigns, the 27-year-old has also proven himself in the English top fight.
Tottenham Hugo Lloris in their ranks as things stand. But the North London side are looking to find a replacement for the 36-year-old, who could leave for Saudi Arabia. Fraser Forster is the backup in Spurs’ ranks.
As for United, David de Gea has been the number one under Erik ten Hag. Since the 2021/22 season, the Spaniard has been in fine form for the Red Devils.
Unfortunately, the 32-year-old leaves a lot to be desired with his distribution and playing out from the back. The former Ajax head coach seems to be keen on implementing a style of play at the Old Trafford side, which the veteran goalkeeper does not look comfortable with.
