Real Madrid chief confident of signing Manchester United target and PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe
Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, is confident of signing Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) superstar Kylian Mbappe amidst interest from Manchester United.
Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, who is one of the frontrunners in the race to acquire the Old Trafford side, is eyeing a move for the 2018 World Cup winner in case his takeover bid is approved.
But the Red Devils will likely face competition for the France international’s signature, with Los Blancos being one of the teams heavily linked with him. To that end, when asked by a fan (h/t Manchester Evening News) whether they would sign the 24-year-old, Perez gave an optimistic reply.
“Yes, but not this year.”
Madrid have a history of attracting the best players in the world. In 2009, they enticed Cristiano Ronaldo away from United. With Karim Benzema departing recently, the Santiago Bernabeu side are now in need of a centre-forward.
Mbappe has been one of the best players in the world over the last few years. The French national’s speed and precision in front of goal make him a fearsome attacker.
PSG signed the forward in the summer of 2018 from AS Monaco. Since then, the 24-year-old has been their talisman and has consistently found the back of the net for the Parc des Princes side.
Erik ten Hag had to rely on Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst as the only two natural strikers in the squad in the last months of the 2022/23 season. Unfortunately, the Holland international had to be called upon on a number of occasions due to the 27-year-old’s fitness issues.
