Manchester United to hold fresh talks with Napoli defender Kim Min-jae
Napoli defender Kim Min-jae is set to be involved in fresh talks with Manchester United over a potential move in the upcoming transfer window.
The Red Devils have been linked with acquiring the services of the South Korea international in the coming months. Erik ten Hag is eager to add the 26-year-old to his ranks at the Old Trafford side this summer.
Speaking to GiveMeSport (h/t Manchester Evening News), Italian journalist Rudy Galetti revealed that United are set to meet Min-jae in order to agree personal terms with the centre-back soon.
“There is a new round of meetings scheduled already in the coming days in which Manchester United will try and finalise and reach a full agreement on personal terms.”
Napoli signed the South Korean in the summer of 2022 from Fenerbahce. In his debut season in Italy, the defender caught a lot of people’s attention with some solid performances.
Luciano Spalletti’s team won the Scudetto convincingly in the previous campaign. The Partenopei relied heavily on the 26-year-old in their backline.
Napoli were far superior to their competition in Serie A. Min-jae made 45 appearances in all competitions for the Naples-based club, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
United’s defence was impressive last season. We kept 17 clean sheets in the Premier League. Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane were Ten Hag’s preferred partnership in the backline. The two World Cup winners have formed a brilliant duo at the Manchester-based club.
Victor Lindelof also deputised admirably in the final few weeks of the season with the Argentine defender on the sidelines. Luke Shaw was also deployed centrally on a few occasions to good effect. Harry Maguire was also at the gaffer’s disposal in the 2022/23 campaign.

However, it would not be a surprise to see some of our centre-backs depart in the upcoming transfer window for more game time elsewhere. In that case, we will evidently need to add reinforcements. Min-jae has proven himself at the highest level. But will he don the red shirt of the Old Trafford side next season? Only time will tell.
