Joao Palhinha release clause dismissed by Fulham amidst Manchester United links
Fulham have dismissed the idea of there being a release clause in the current contract of Joao Palhinha, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United.
The Portugal international joined the Cottagers last summer. His existing deal runs until June 2027, with Premier League rivals, alongside the Red Devils, being associated with the midfielder’s signature.
But taking to Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News), Tony Khan, Fulham’s director of football operations, revealed that a fee would have to be negotiated by interested parties to acquire the services of the 27-year-old.

“There is no release clause.”
The Craven Cottage side signed Palhinha from Sporting Lisbon. At the Primeira Liga outfit, the Portugal international had shone over the last few years.
Subsequently, in his debut campaign at the Cottagers, the midfield enforcer showcased his qualities in the English top flight. The 27-year-old caught a lot of people’s attention with some impressive displays.
Marco Silva’s team survived the drop comfortably after being promoted to the PL. Palhinha was pivotal to the London club’s success, making 40 appearances in all competitions and scoring four goals.
United bolstered their engine room with the addition of Casemiro last summer. The Brazil international became a key player in Erik ten Hag’s plans last season.
Unfortunately, we were seemingly dependent on the former Real Madrid star’s brilliance in the middle of the park. Without him, positive results were hard to come by in the recently concluded campaign. Scott McTominay and Fred have left a lot to be desired at times when called upon by the Dutch manager.

Therefore, we could do with some quality cover for the 31-year-old in the squad. However, will the Old Trafford side be able to convince Fulham to part ways with Palhinha for a reasonable fee? Only time will tell.
