Bayer Leverkusen have named the price for Manchester United target Jeremie Frimpong
According to Sky Sports (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United have learned about the fee it would take to land Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong.
Frimpong has been on Erik Ten Hag’s radar for some time and many believe that the United head coach is keen to reunite with his compatriot having not been fully convinced with the performances of either Diogo Dalot or Aaron Wan-Bassika.
While Dalot has agreed to a contract extension, Wan Bissaka’s future at the club, despite some good performances towards the end of the season, is still under doubt. He has failed to pin down a starting position over the period of the whole season and is evidently unpolished in attack.
Ten Hag is keen to bring in top-quality competition for all positions involved, which is really crucial to close the gap to Manchester City and other top clubs on the rise.
Leverkusen will be willing to sell Frimpong for a few worth £ 34 million which is fair taking into account the contract situation of the player which ends in June 2025 and the impressive year that he has had with the German club.
However, the uncertainty around the club which was supposed to be resolved by April has dragged on till June and still, there is not much clarity over who will be in charge of the club come next season and the funds available for the transfer window.
It is rather petulant of the Glazers regime of all these years that they have dragged down the negotiations to the last minute possible to get the maximum money out.
While other clubs are already strengthening their squads for next season, Ten Hag and the recruitment team are still not aware of how much funds will be allocated for the primary targets.

Frimpong is one of Ten Hag’s primary targets but a lot of whether the club goes in for the player depends on the money available as there are more urgent positions to be filled for the next season.
