Napoli defender Kim Min-jae ‘main target’ for Manchester United
Manchester have identified Napoli defender Kim Min-jae as their ‘main target’ ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Red Devils have been keeping tabs on the South Korea international since October. To that end, he remains the top most priority for the Old Trafford side and the club are in touch with the centre-back’s representatives.
As things stand, the 26-year-old has a release clause in his current contract. But that is valid only in July. Premier League rivals Newcastle United also have him on their radar.

Apart from Min-jae, United are monitoring other players as well. The Red Devils have their eyes on the French market for alternative options if they are unable to get a hold of the South Korean’s signature.
Napoli signed the 26-year-old last summer from Fenerbahce. The defender immediately caught a lot of people’s attention in the 2022/23 campaign with some impressive and solid displays.
Luciano Spalletti’s team lifted the Scudetto after more than three decades. Min-jae was pivotal to that success and did not let the Naples-based club feel the absence of Kalidou Koulibaly.
United’s backline has been relatively better under Erik ten Hag. The Dutch manager seems to favour the duo of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane. The two have formed a brilliant partnership at the Old Trafford side.
However, as a result, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have found game time hard to come by. Both of them have fallen down the pecking order since the former Ajax head coach’s arrival. But our captain has especially not been trusted by the gaffer.

Therefore, it would not be a surprise to see the English or Swedish nationals part ways with the Red Devils in the coming months. Thus, a player like Min-jae has showcased his talents at the highest level and will evidently add quality in depth to our ranks.
