Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund wants Manchester United transfer
Rasmus Hojlund, who currently plays for Serie A outfit Atalanta, wants to make a move to Manchester United this summer, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t Manchester Evening News].
The Denmark international is hoping to join the Red Devil in the upcoming transfer window. Erik ten Hag is keen on adding the striker to the Old Trafford side’s squad and has even held video calls with him.
La Dea are ‘open’ to parting ways with the 20-year-old in the coming months. However, the Bergamo-based club have set a £40 million price tag on his head.
Hojlund joined Atalanta in the summer of 2022 from Sturm Graz. In Austria, the youngster shone and showcased immense potential.
The Denmark international has continued that in Italy. In his debut season for La Dea, the striker has already become a key part of their first-team setup. Gian Piero Gasperini has heavily relied on the 20-year-old in his starting lineups.
In the 2022/23 campaign, Hojlund made 34 appearances in all competitions for the Bergamo-based club. The Danish national found the back of the net 10 times and set up four goals.
United’s attack lacks depth up front. Wout Weghorst was signed in January on loan from Burnley. After some underwhelming months in Manchester, the Holland international is set to go back to the Clarets after the conclusion of his temporary move.
That will leave Erik ten Hag with just one natural striker in Anthony Martial. Unfortunately, the Dutch manager has been unable to rely on the French national during his time in the Red Devils’ dugout. The 27-year-old has been injured a lot.

Therefore, we could seemingly do with more than one new player in the attack. Hojlund still has a lot to learn but has shown promise. As a second choice number nine, the 20-year-old will evidently strengthen us. But it remains to be seen whether that will happen.
