Manchester United ‘preparing’ opening bid for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount
Manchester United ‘preparing’ their opening bid to acquire the services of Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount this summer, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Red Devils are interested in acquiring the England international’s services ahead of the upcoming transfer window. However, as things stand, the Blues’ asking price remains an obstacle for the Old Trafford side.
But United are not dejected by that prospect and are remaining patient. The 24-year-old is keen on making a switch to the Manchester-based club from the Stamford Bridge side.

Mount is a Chelsea academy graduate and has spent his entire career at the West London club. After developing on loan away from the Blues, Frank Lampard gave the playmaker an opportunity in the first team in the 2019/20 season.
Since then, the midfielder has not looked back. Over the years, the English national has been one of their best players. In 2021, the 24-year-old even lifted the Champions League title with his boyhood club.
However, Mount has lost his influence in the team over the last few months. The midfielder has not been in the best of forms. Also, in the last two transfer windows, the Blues have made several player acquisitions.
United have relied on Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in the double pivot in the middle of the park. Bruno Fernandes has been trusted by Erik ten Hag to play in the number 10 position.
But the Red Devils seemingly lack quality on the bench. Donny van de Beek has failed to live up to expectations at the Old Trafford side. On the other hand, Fred and Scott McTominay have also been inconsistent.

It is not always that a player of Mount”s quality is available on the market. However, will United be able to strike a deal with Chelsea that would make sense for both parties? Only time will tell.
